Big apes

It's been a slow month, admittedly, but I'm closing in on my goal of making 6 classic monster themed illustrations for my little fanzine. Making these has really made me wish for older movies to be way more accessible than they are. Sure, you can find a few scattered about on the various streaming services, and even a few free B-movies over on the internet archive, but many are simply not available.

It vexes me greatly that amazon charges $4 to rent and $10-$20 to "buy" a +50 year old film! First of all, you won't own that movie if you buy it. You can't download it and you'll get no recompense if they decide to stop hosting it, which they will when the rights owners decide to pull the license for whatever flimsy reason. It's just gone. Secondly, hosting that film costs them nowhere near those sums, and all that money goes right into mr Bigshot's dividends. Bah!

Anyway, you're here for the art, not me ranting.

I got one more to show you later this month while pondering the last one. Why is the last one always the most difficult to get done? Maybe it's just another one of my slumps. Shake it up with some bored and ugly dancing perhaps. Shakeshakeshake it for July!
