Creative season

Summer is over and done with. Good riddance. I like autumn the best anyway. With it comes a more contemplative rythm, ideal operating temperatures for my brain, and some nice rusty ambiance to boot. It suits my creativity a lot better.

And yes, I have been creative! Behold; my latest print design! A bash of retro sci-fi and my new two-tone cut style. I told myself to do less details after last time, but I guess I lacked the discipline to hold true to that. Oh well, gonna be a fun cut anyway.

The guitar playing girl turned out well too, so I'm looking forward to making a run of it soon.

I've kept exploring print materials and methods since last time. I just ordered oil based inks for +$100. And some other peripherals for another +$100. My wallet is not happy about it, but I'm sure I'll get a return on the investment in time.

So I'll soon experiment with other colors than... black and blue-grey (though it's a very nice blue-grey). Also ordered new paper, with a 50% cotton blend, more ideal for softening with water before printing. I found the oil based stuff way less stressful to print as the water based inks dries in minutes and I was in a mad scramble trying to ink the block evenly in time.

I much prefer to mosey about.

The water soluble oil inks were alright, but they proved problematic when layering and they weren't truly opaque. It's been quite the learning curve getting things to a quality that I'm proud of, but it's getting there.
